Happy Sunday! Here are seven lines from my upcoming release, the dark romantic suspense Fiery 10-16. A scorching story of lust, abuse, and perseverance.

In this scene, firefighter Runo and his colleagues have caught Dawn, a super-gorgeous thief. Two cops want to arrest her, but Runo suspects she may be victim of domestic abuse and asks them to let her go.

Runo tried to get eye contact with the cops. “Maybe you should…” he started, but Dawn stepped forward and tore the bag of clothes from his hands. Jesus, so fiery.

She was in his space, and she took up all that space, her scent filling his nostrils and her brown doe eyes consuming him. Her whole being enveloped him, swallowed him up. Was she going to flirt again, cause his head to spin, and make him behave irrationally?

“Runo!” Tony again, sounding alarmed. “She’s fucking with your mind, man.”

 

Runo Wiggins is a scarred man, the wounds etched into his psyche deeper than those on his skin. But he loves his job: fighting fires helps reenact his survival of a house fire as a teen, one that killed his mother and brutal stepfather.

Dawn Caravello is married to a psychotic drunk. She can take his beatings as long as he doesn’t touch their children, and she’ll do anything to put food on the table, even if it means stealing from the town hero.

When Runo meets the fiery Dawn, sparks fly. But he suspects she is victim of the same abuse as his mother was. As day turns to night, the past and the present blend in an exhausting, hold-your-breath chase to prevent another death.
