New novella – Shooting Heat

This is a new, exciting project as of March 2014 – a romance novella for an anthology, where the common theme is Photography.

“When author Andrea signed up for a Meet & Greet with the cover model of her latest book, she didn’t expect sparks to fly. Yushka is dangerously goodlooking and much too young for her. But their connection is instantaneous, and during a photo shoot with the two, the photographer picks up on their growing attraction. Seeing not just an author/model shot but the potential for THE cover photo of the century, he decides to push their comfort limits…”

Carnivora blurb

“Crime lord Tomor is sent to jail for life, but vengeful forces outside of the prison walls want his death at any cost. Given a second chance as a free man, he will need all his street flair, skills and shrewdness to keep himself and his hunted family alive.

A year after the loss of her man, Luz is still grieving and struggles to come to terms with her new life while caring for their baby daughter. The last thing she needs is to fall for the new neighbor, an undercover cop watching the return of her escapee lover.

Gangster rookie David is slowly rebuilding his life. When led into the grotesque trafficking of small children by his police connections, he is deeply shocked and seeks help to save these innocent lives. Who better than a man suicidal enough to make the ultimate sacrifice: the same one he betrayed and doomed to die behind bars.

Dead bodies are uncovered daily. Can the three—once tied by kin—accept to leave past deceits behind and rejoin forces before a final bloodshed?”

The thriller sequel to Wild Hearted is currently in the making at 17K, and I hope to reach the goal of 90K in the course of this year.

A Home for Jesse

BLURB:

Jesse Gray can’t get more unlucky. His roommate left him and he gets kicked out when he can’t afford the rent. Next, the owner of the fast food joint where he works part-time suddenly tells him he no longer works there. Jesse still has a job as a PA on a movie set but the pay will never be enough to afford even the cheapest room in Hollywood. There’s only one place left to stay the night — in the park.

Trey Miller is the star on a TV series where Jesse works. They bump into each other one night while leaving the set, and Trey thinks Jesse is much too good-looking to only be a PA. When he learns of Jesse’s financial condition, he offers a place to stay at his house. Having no other options, Jesse reluctantly accepts the offer, but what’s the catch?

EXCERPT:
Note: may contain sexually explicit scenes of a homoerotic nature.

This ain’t so bad. Jesse pats his laden backpack. He stretches himself on the bench and lowers his head onto the bag, grimacing at the bumps pressing against his head and neck. Awesome. He is going to have major cricks and headaches come morning. That is if he’s not suffering from early signs of pneumonia.

Jesse shifts and grunts and finally gives up. He sits up, takes off his jacket, and spreads it over his front before he lies down again. Moving a bit again to find the most comfortable position, he thinks, Fuck, now my shorts are stuck in the crack of my ass. Jesse reaches down and pulls them free — ah, that’s better.

He takes a deep breath. So he’s a bum now, is he? His ma would be heartbroken if she knew. She could blame him for being such a hard head and insisting on having his own way. Jesse stares blankly at the leaves swaying on treetops, at the shadows of the swings dancing in the dark, at the stars blinking mockingly down at him. At least the fact that they are up there means that the sky is cloudless and Jesse doesn’t need to worry about the possibility of rain tonight. Getting soaked when the only place he has to sleep is this park would be a pain in the ass, not to mention hazardous to his health. Jesse also hopes no cops will come patrolling tonight.

Weary to the bone, Jesse curls both hands under the side of his face and gives in to slumber.

“Come on, Trey, one more glass. Don’t be a spoilsport.”

What one more glass means for Brent must be different from what it means for Trey. They have been here for hours. Trey had sneaked a glance at his watch once. It showed four — and that must have been half an hour ago. Still there is no sign they are leaving soon.

Trey regrets his decision not to drive his own car and ride with Brent instead. Fuck. He’s going to screw up his shot big time tomorrow — or rather, this afternoon.

“What celebration am I spoiling again?” Trey leans forward. Brent looks taken aback but he immediately offers a smile, which looks more like a snake’s sneer.

“Trey, that’s not nice.” He wags his forefinger.

“The hell with nice.” Trey rests his head on his folded arms on the table. “I’d rather be with Jess –”

Oops. He slipped up and said it out loud.

Brent and the others sitting around the table seem to come to a consensus to stop whatever they are doing and switch their attention to Trey.

“Jess? Jess who?” Brent asks. “I thought you were with Kimberly.”

Trey feels blood rush into his face but he sighs inwardly in relief that Brent doesn’t know who he was talking about.

“Kimberly? Right. And you said she’d be here! Where is she, Brenton?”

Brent visibly cringes at the name and Trey feels like guffawing. Eat that, asshat!

“My name’s not Brenton.”

“So what? You haven’t answered my question.”

And neither has Trey, but Brent has forgotten about that. Trey gulps down his drink, and tries to shut down from everything going on around him.

 About the Author:

Iyana lives in Jakarta, a city famous for its traffic jams, a lot of cars and motorcycles, and people selling stuff on the roads. You can spend two hours on the road going to a place you can reach in half an hour in a normal situation. Thanks to the traffic jams, though, Iyana can come up with a lot of stories, mostly shorties, as she prefers to spend the time during her trips writing into her cell phone rather than sleeping.

Another thing Iyana loves is kitties. Right now she has five of them. Their names are Larva, Nyil, Cil, Mermood, and Horus. When she doesn’t write, she plays with them, or they would play with her when she writes.

My Writing Process

This is a stop on a blog hop with several authors discussing their writing processes. I’ve been tagged by the lovely and talented Nikka Michaels and I’ve tagged three authors to follow my post in the hop. There are more authors to visit at Nikka’s post and you can continue hopping from there or here. What is this hop all about? It’s about authors offering others a glimpse into their work, their work schedules, and perhaps their innermost thoughts. Come take a hop on the wild side!

Before I get to the questions, I have to make sure you know about Nikka. She’s a writer of m/m erotic romance, a genre I have discovered recently. I read her Chasing Matt (co-written with Eileen Griffin) in one sitting, and boy was it good. With the right balance of steamy, romantic, a little edgy, and before all, characters to die (drool) for, you don’t want to miss it!

QUESTION TIME:

Q. What am I working on?

I have three works in progress. The erotica High Risk Fever will hopefully be completed this week—woohoo!—and I can’t wait to start the submission process with this one. In parallel, I’m writing the sequel to my first book, a dirty, gritty gangster thriller called Carnivora that explores some of the most disturbing deviances of human kind. Not for the faint-hearted. And then there’s the suspense romance Kill for Desire, a sexy, hold-your-breath cop novel that I’m co-writing with D.C. Stone 🙂

Q. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I’m not sure how to answer this, because I’m writing several very different genres. But what I make sure to include in all of my works, whether they be erotic romance, cartoonish street crime or gory thriller, is one or more socio-political messages as well as a personal edge. My characters have reasons to be angry. Also, I am brutally honest: my stories are explicit both in terms of eroticism and grotesque violence. You get what my characters get!

Q. Why do I write what I do?

I have read a lot since I was a small child, and only on a few occasions come across a book that I could qualify as ‘perfect’ (to my taste). Therefore I wrote the stories that I wanted to read, and only in the past year dared have other people read them as well…

I have also written a few stories in response to challenges, a quite tough task as in those cases I couldn’t use my fantasies but needed to mobilize my imagination.

Q. How does your writing process work?

Either I have a clearly outlined plot in my head, like a puzzle where I know where all the pieces belong and place them at the same time—one here, one there, sometimes filling the middle before finishing a corner. That’s the easy way.

Or I have a vague idea of what I want to write about and build the story as I go. This is the case with Carnivora. I know most of the things my main characters will experience from start to finish, but there are several non-outlined sub-plots with other characters and controversial topics that I haven’t researched yet, which makes the overall story-weaving very complex. It’s exhausting.

Q. Who will we meet next?

I’m passing the question baton to three fellow writers:

Cait Jarrod is a writer of romantic suspense. Her debut novel Kidnapped Hearts was published in Feb 2013, and the novelette Rekindled in April. Look out for several new releases this year as she is a prolific writer. Cait is a lovely, funny person to chat with, and I can always count on her proofreading my stories (which is no easy task)! You can find her post here.

D.C. Stone is not only my very inspiring and humbling co-writer but a dear friend. Her writing concentrates on romance with specifics in paranormal, suspense, and erotica. She has three published books under her belt: the erotic romance High Scandal, the paranormal-military romance Feral Craving, and the erotic romance Armed and Desired. As you will see in 2014, there are many, many more to come. She shares her post here.

Michaela Miles is also a terrific author who writes the same genres as me. I love what I’ve read of her works so far and can’t wait to see her published! Here is her writing process post.

Thanks for taking the time to read about my writing process and be sure to check out Cait, D.C. and Michaela!

Stranded Domme and Too Busy for Love by Tamsin Baker

Stranded Domme_500x750

BLURB:

Natalie is a professional Domme, in total control of her emotions and her life. When her car breaks down outside of a small town, she is rescued by a quiet gentleman with all the strength of a good submissive. They have a wonderful night where Natalie breaks her own rules, yet doesn’t regret allowing Mick into her bed. When Natalie returns to her real life she feels the lack of her country gentleman and invites him to her club. She offers him a play collar and shows him off to her friends. All is in order for Natalie, but Mick is feeling less than enthusiastic about being kept on the outside of Natalie’s heart. They need to find a balance quickly, or their budding relationship will soon be over.

EXCERPT:

Natalie awoke to two very weird and rather pleasant sensations. The first was the mere fact that she awoke naturally and not to an alarm. It had been years since that had happened. The second was the warmth and weight of a male body behind her. It had been almost a decade since that event had occurred.

Memories of the night before came flooding back to her and the soreness between her legs became more pronounced. Mick.

What on Earth had tempted her to let him fuck her? She rarely had sex with anyone, let alone an untrained, un-collared sub that she had just met.

The urge to leave quickly was strong but so was the feeling to stay. She lay still for a minute just listening to him breathing. It was deep and even, comforting actually. His weight was nice too.

Too many men she had met were scrawny, too thin and all lean muscle. She liked a bit of bulk. It made her feel small, safe and protected.

Confused now, old memories came flooding back into her mind. Days of crying over men who had hurt her, disappointed her. It was enough to get her moving.

Natalie wiggled out from under the strong arm that held her and shuffled to the bathroom.

She looked in the mirror and the Domme did not stare back. A ruffled, well fucked and sated young woman looked back at her. Who the fuck was that?

“Damn…”

She groaned as she sat on the toilet. It had been so long since she felt out of control.

“What a mess.”

Natalie pondered over what she would do. She really wanted to see Mick again, but how was that going to be possible? He lived too far away, and he wasn’t in the Lifestyle. How would he handle watching her with some of the other bottoms?

A strange smile spread across her face at the thought. He wouldn’t like it at all. She giggled to herself as she imagined a stand off in her club.

No, she had to stop thinking that way. Nothing could develop between them. Last night had just been a moment of weakness. A wonderful, fulfilling, unnerving moment, but still just a moment.

She took a deep breath and snuck back into the room for her clothes. She didn’t really know why she was being quiet, Mick had to take her back into town. She would have to deal with him eventually.

She froze on entering her bedroom. Mick sat up in bed, the sheet covering his lap. His eyes scanned her nakedness and he smiled.

“Good morning, Natalie.”

Inside her head, the Domme was warring with her girly self again. How did he manage to bring out that side in her? The one that wanted to jump onto the bed, laugh and curl up into his lap for morning kisses. There was a reason she didn’t do that anymore and that was because she was happier when she was always in control.

She tried to be casually confident as she opened her overnight case and pulled out fresh bra and panties. She was never embarrassed by her body, but she blushed as she felt his heated gaze on her.

“Would you like a shower?”

She jumped, his voice surprising her. Mick hadn’t come inside her, a concession she greatly appreciated but she was still sweaty from their exertions. A shower would be very much appreciated.

“I would actually. Thank you, Mick.”

Mick smiled as he slipped from the bed and walked towards her. He was still naked and his cock was hard. Her mouth hung open, shocked at how natural and in control he looked. How did he manage to look so calm when she felt like a bundle of insecure nerves?

What did you do the morning after? All of her scenes were orchestrated and always ended with her subs going home afterwards. She was at a loss at what to do with a lover.

Mick kissed her softly on the lips and walked to the door.

“I’ll make us some breakfast and you have a shower. See you soon.”

Natalie stood staring after Mick’s retreating form. He had a lovely ass, and she could see the red striations from her flogger. She blushed again.

The cool and calm gentleman she had met yesterday afternoon was back and in control of the situation. She couldn’t believe how unbalanced she felt, how out of control. And it would not do.

The reason she had trained to become a Domme in the first place was to establish control and order in her life and emotions. It would not do to lose all of that now.

She showered and pulled on her work clothes. They were black, fitted and very professional. She had to take special care with her feet and apply many band aids to her heels before she dared to put on her black work shoes. Her feet wouldn’t let her forget this hiatus any time soon.

When she entered the kitchen she was ready for action, only to be totally derailed by the scene in front of her.

Mick had set the table for them both, orange juice poured, bacon and eggs cooking. Tears stung her eyes at the casual intimacy he was so good at. Where had he been when she had desperately wanted this sort of relationship?

She collapsed into her chair, deflated and awestruck. She had stumbled upon one of the last true gentlemen.

“How do you like your eggs? Sunny side up?” Mick called over his still bare shoulder.

Clearing her throat, she coughed. “Sunny side up would be great.”

Mick whistled as he cooked and Natalie looked around the kitchen. It was clean and orderly but lacked a feminine touch.

“Have you been married, Mick?” Natalie asked before her brain could kick into gear.

She hissed in frustration and wanted to bite off her tongue. Why was she asking intimate questions?

Mick looked over his shoulder at her for a minute then turned back to his cooking.

“I was, for twenty years. But we divorced a few years ago.”

He continued whistling and Natalie found herself more intrigued, not less. That was the problem with questions. Once asked, they opened the door to more.

“And you have kids?” She couldn’t help it, she had to ask.

Mick laughed. “Yep, the bane of my bank balance.”

Natalie smiled, despite what he actually said the tone in Mick’s voice was beautiful. Loving devotion.

BLURB:

He needed a job — he never expected to need his boss.

Thomas’s life can be pared down to one principle: Be as successful as possible by being as single-minded as possible. But his commitment to his goal is tested upon returning home to his mansion and finding his gorgeous new gardener in his library.

Luke is a student, and his new job is perfect: decent income and a place to study that’s quiet, peaceful, and stocked with useful resources. The last thing he expects to find there is a stunning man who offers to open up all the doors that Luke has yet to be brave enough to peek behind.

Thomas is happy to wait for Luke to come to him, but when he does, Thomas has no intention of holding back…

EXCERPT:

I’m studying architecture and you have some pretty awesome textbooks. I was just making some notes.”

Thomas nodded mechanically and sat down in the chair opposite Luke. This was not what he needed— to find out his gorgeous, young gardener was intelligent too. Crap.

Talk! Just talk to him. “How long have you got to go?” He choked out.

Luke groaned theatrically and rolled his eyes. “Two long years. But I’ll get there.”

Thomas smiled at the artless way Luke had of moving and talking. But the question was, was he gay?  Were his smiles a come-on, or the act of a guileless young man?

Luke’s blue eyes sparkled. “You’re home late, sir.”

Thomas opened his mouth and said something he had never murmured to a staff member before, “You can call me Thomas if you like.”

Luke cocked his head in an adorable way, his blue eyes showing surprise and pleasure.

“Sure…Tommy.”

Thomas couldn’t stop the moan that escaped his lips at the sound of such a nickname from this gorgeous young man.  A name he had banned all previous lovers and friends from using. He didn’t like the sound of it, it sounded common. Well, it used to.

“I don’t usually let people call me that.”

Luke stood up and smiled. “Really? Why not?”

Thomas stood up also and moved forward so that they almost nose to nose. His need to touch this guy was an almost painful yearning. Luke’s eyes widened in surprise but the pupils dilated in arousal also. Thomas followed his instincts and pushed forward.

“Because it sounds like something my lover would call me.”

Luke blinked several times but didn’t move back.

Thomas took that as assent and lifted his hands to cup Luke’s jaw. His skin was soft, with the faintest feeling of bristles against his palm. He brought his face a scant inch closer.

He felt Luke’s gasp against his lips but pressed forward and moaned as their skin met. Luke’s lips were soft, juicy and full of potential. He stepped closer so that their bodies were touching, Thomas’ cock hardened as it rubbed against the younger man. He groaned again and coaxed Luke’s lips open.

Luke opened to him slowly and Thomas took advantage, tasting and licking the inside of Luke’s mouth. Enjoying the softness, the way Luke’s tongue hesitantly met his.

The soft moan Luke emitted caused Thomas’s body to harden unbearably, and then Luke was pushing him back with a gentle hand.

Thomas’ head was swimming as though he was drunk and he staggered back a few steps so that he was in the centre of the room again. He was dizzy with pleasure and was throwing caution to the wind. He knew he should have spoken to the head gardener first to find out what sort of employee Luke was. He should have talked to his lawyer, but he didn’t. He just opened his mouth and said what he wanted.

“I’m gonna have a bath. Wanna join me?”

Luke’s mouth fell open as his eyes scanned down Thomas’ body. Thomas knew his erection would be obvious in the dress pants he wore. It was hard and uncomfortable, but he didn’t care. Luke needed to see what was on offer.

He reached up and pulled his tie down, part of his seriously lust-fogged brain wondering if he was about to be sued for sexual harassment.

“Well?” He raised an eyebrow at the beautiful boy still staring at him.

He threw his silk tie down onto the chair, shrugged off his jacket and began unbuttoning his shirt. His stomach tightened in excitement as he waited for Luke to make the next move.
