Happy Sunday! Here are seven lines from my new release, the dark romantic suspense Fiery 10-16. A scorching story of desire, abuse, and bravery.

In this scene, Runo finds Dawn in the back of a dirty pub. She invites him into a bathroom, but he knows it’s wrong and tries to leave…

“Wait, don’t go!” Still smiling, she closed the distance between them and plastered her body to his. A hot body full of life. Engorged lips so near his face. A spark of fieriness in her eyes that spoke of personality, the same one that’d urged him to release her in the supermarket. “I remember you. You’re a big guy.” She put a hand on his chest, slowly curling her fingers into his shirt like a cat’s paws. “But a good guy. A very good guy. A hero.” Her essence wafted up his nose, the natural, feminine skin scent that’d snuck into his system this morning and aroused him.

Runo Wiggins is a scarred man, the wounds etched into his psyche deeper than those on his skin. But he loves his job: fighting fires helps reenact his survival of a house fire as a teen, one that killed his mother and brutal stepfather.

Dawn Caravello is married to a psychotic drunk. She can take his beatings as long as he doesn’t touch their children, and she’ll do anything to put food on the table, even if it means stealing from the town hero.

When Runo meets the fiery Dawn, sparks fly. But he suspects she is victim of the same abuse as his mother was. As day turns to night, the past and the present blend in an exhausting, hold-your-breath chase to prevent another death.
